PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outstanding water resistance and obtain a high quality- level recorded image by making a record through selecting between a recording method for imparting a liquid after imparting an ink and a recording method for imparting the ink after imparting the liquid, to a recording medium, according to the type of the recording medium. SOLUTION: First, the type of a recording medium for recording an image is set for a recording operation is performed (S1). When the set recording medium is a plain paper, a P liquid which is a liquid for upgrading recording properties is used (S3). An optimal recording mode suited for recording an image on the plain paper is set (S4). The recording operation is executed (S10). When the interpretation of (S2) is not the plain paper, it is interpreted whether the recording medium is BPF (S5). When it is interpreted as BPF, the operation is shifted to a recording operation mode using the P liquid (S6). An optimal recording mode for recording the BPF image is set (S7). When the interpretation of (S5) is not the plain paper and the BPF, the operation is set to an optimal recording mode for a coated paper or the like, for example, under a recording operation mode using no P liquid. |
