PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent waste ink from being scattered to cause internal contamination of an ink jet printer, corrosion or deterioration of material through adhesion to a metal part or a resin part, or short circuit through adhesion to a conductive part. SOLUTION: The ink jet printer for printing a character, a symbol, an image, or the like, by moving a print head having at least one ink jet nozzle relatively to a recording medium comprises means 22 for wiping the nozzle face of a print head 11, and ink absorbing members 11g, 11h arranged in the vicinity of a part touching the wiping means 22. Splashed ink is absorbed when resiliency of the wiping means 22 is released at a time waste ink is prevented from being scattered. |
