PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance aperture ratio of a front substrate emitting visual light by arranging an address electrode arranged in the direction perpendicularly crossing to a retaining discharge electrode in the front substrate, and forming a fluorescent layer for emitting visual light. SOLUTION: A fluorescent layer 104 for emitting visual light is formed in a discharge space inner wall in a front substrate 101 which is the display screen of an image. An address electrode A is formed on the upper side of a partition 103 along the partition 103. Part limiting light transmission is minimized, decrease in aperture ratio is also minimized, and at the same time, since wide discharge sustaining electrodes C, S having the width act as a reflecting layer for reflecting 90 % or more visual light emitted in the fluorescent layer 104, brightness is increased. By increasing the width of the sustaining electrodes C, S, the electrode is thined, and since line resistance is made sufficiently small by the electrode width increased, uneven voltage can be reduced. |
