PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor for a motorcycle having an excellent durability with scarce influence of a thermal stress due to a mechanical impact of a detecting element or a contraction difference of a sealing material layer. SOLUTION: The gas sensor 1 comprises an outer cylinder 18, a main body fitment 3 disposed at an inside of the cylinder 18, and a detecting element 2 disposed at the inside of the fitment 3 in an insertion hole 30 of the fitment 3 to detect a component to be detected in the gas to be measured. An inner surface of the fitment 3 and an outer surface of the element 2 are sealed therebetween by a sealing material layer 32 mainly constituted by a glass. And, a buffer layer 34 constituted by a porous inorganic substance is formed to be brought into contact with a surface of the layer 32 at an end side of the element 2 in an axial direction of the element 2. And, a buffer layer 33 constituted by a talc glass is formed to be brought into contact with a surface of the layer 32 at a rear end side in the axial direction of the element 2. |
