PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanning optical system which eliminates a need of addition of a lens for aberration correction while maintaining the optical characteristics of an fαoptical element. SOLUTION: In the scanning optical system including a deflector 50 and a light source 10 which emits a luminous flux which is scanned on a scan surface in the main scanning direction, the luminous flux radiated by the light source 10 is made incident on the deflector 50 as a luminous flux which doesn't converge in the main scanning direction. The face, on which the light from the deflector 50 is made incident on, of an fθoptical element 40 is formed as a refraction face, and a face facing the refraction face is formed as a reflection face. The luminous flux made incident from the refraction face is transmitted through the optical element and is reflected by the reflection face and is refracted again by the refraction face and is emitted. At least the reflection face is formed as a face which doesn't have a revolving shaft, and at least one face is inclined to the axis perpendicular to the luminous flux made incident on the fθoptical element 40. Further, at least the optical axis of the reflection face of the fθoptical element 40 is not perpendicular to the revolving shaft of the deflector 50. |
