摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method for selecting a supercooling prevention agent for a salt hydrate without performing many experiments by comparing the cation arrangement pattern of the salt hydrate crystal with the cation arrangement pattern of a candidate crystal to select a crystal which matches wholly or almost wholly. SOLUTION: The cation arrangement pattern of a salt hydrate crystal is compared with the cation arrangement on a crystal plane whereon the cations and anions of a candidate crystal of a supercooling prevention agent contg. ions are arranged in such a ratio as to keep electrical neutrality, and a crystal having an arrangement pattern matching wholly or almost wholly is selected as the supercooling prevention agent. In the case when the known salt hydrate is sodium sulfate decahydrate and the supercooling prevention agent is sodium tetraborate decahydrate, the arrangement pattern of sodium ions of the salt hydrate and the arrangement pattern of sodium ions of the supercooling prevention agent closely resemble each other, have similar sizes (the difference in ordinate is 0.639Å; and that in abscissa, 0.284Å), and match well each other.
