PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject ceramic having excellent thermal properties. SOLUTION: This light-emitting glass ceramic comprises 0-65 wt.% SiO2 0-10 wt.% P2 O5 , 18-30 wt.% Al2 O3 , 2-6 wt.% Li2 O, 0.2-6 wt.% MgO, 0-2 wt.% ZnO, 0-4 wt.% CaO, 0.5-6 wt.% BaO, 1-4 wt.% TiO2 , 1-4 wt.% ZrO2 , and 0-2 wt.% of (As2 O3 +Sb2 O3 ), wherein 50-70 wt.% of (SiO2 +P2 O5 ), P2 O5 /SiO2 of 0-0.18, and Al2 O3 /SiO2 of 0.30-0.55. Furthermore, this glass ceramic contains 0.1-30 outer wt.% of one or more kinds of rare earth component calculated as the oxide(s), but substantially contains neither Na2 O component, K2 O component nor lead component, and has a thermal shock resistance value|Δt|of >=150; wherein|Δt|= [flexural strength]×(1-[Poisson's ratio])/([thermal expansion coefficient]×[Young's modulus]).
