PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a glass composition highly meltable with low specific gravity, hard to develop film debonding or cracking even if transparent electrodes are formed on the substrate made thereof, therefore suitable for e.g. substrates for flat displays. SOLUTION: This glass composition has an average thermal expansion coefficient at 50-350 deg.C of 60×10<-7> to 75×10<-7> / deg.C and substantially comprises 58-62 wt.% SiO2 , >11 but <=15 wt.% Al2 O3 , 0-10 wt.% MgO, 0-15 wt.% CaO, 0-8 wt.% Na2 O, and 0-14 wt.% K2 O, wherein >73 but <=76.5 wt.% of (SiO2 +Al2 O3 ), 10-25 wt.% of (MgO+CaO), 1-15.5 wt.% of (Na2 O+K2 O), and 23.5 to <27 wt.% of (MgO+CaO+Na2 O+K2 O).
