A speed-limiter for motorcycles, comprises a signal input unit (1) whose terminal (EXCT) transfers a high voltage to a capacitor discharge module (6) in which a capacitor (63) releases a pulse of capacitive energy to the ignition coil (not shown) via the terminal (IGN) when the silicon controlled rectifiers (61, 62) are triggered to earth (GND) by a distributor timing pulse from terminal (PC). A CPU controller (3) with stabilised battery source (4) has an IC (31) with the decade resistors (32) calibrated for permitted speed and receives (RAI) ignition timing pulses via a distributor pick-up coil (not shown). When the pulse count exceeds a speed-determined threshold the controller (3) signals the ignition times module (5) which shorts the terminal (PC) to earth (GND) until the speed falls.
