A Power generation device which is compact, satisfactory in strength, easy to handle and powerful enough to provide a desired power generating capability, and an electronic timepiece which is small in size and advantageous in designing despite its large power consumption. The power generation device (100) has such a construction that a plurality of thermionic elements (1), which generate power by means of a heat gradient, inside a thermionic element (13), generated by a temperature difference between a first thermionic element substrate (11) and a second thermionic element substrate (12), are heat-transferrably disposed, via heat-conducting fluidic bodies (27), in a housing (2) formed by arranging a first heat-conducting substrate (21) and a second heat-conducting substrate (22) with a specified clearance therebetween and via heat insulating side plates (25, 26), and that these thermionic elements are series-connected via individual pairs of terminals (14), the power generation device (100) being incorporated in the electronic timepiece and operated.
