PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength converting member having a wavelength converting layer including quantum dots showing a superior light resistance and getting a high brightness durability when assembled in a liquid crystal display device, a backlight unit and a process of manufacture of the wavelength converting member and provide a liquid crystal display device showing a superior light resistance and a high long-period reliability on brightness.SOLUTION: This invention comprises a wavelength converting layer 30 having quantum dots 30A and 30B dispersed and contained in an organic matrix 30P, an inclusion layer 12b provided adjacently to the wavelength converting layer 30, and a barrier layer 12a installed adjacently to a side opposite to the wavelength converting layer 30 of the inclusion layer 12b and including, as chief ingredient, silicon nitride and/or silicon oxynitride. The organic matrix 30P is one in which hardening composition including at least an alicyclic epoxy compound is hardened, and the inclusion layer 12b includes a chemical structure A combined with silicon nitride and/or silicon oxynitride and a chemical structure B connected to the organic matrix 30P.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
