In known electric motors, at least two permanent magnet segments are arranged around a longitudinal motor axis. The segments each have two end areas extending in the direction of said longitudinal motor axis and are encompassed by two independent return path ring segments, these ring segments having between them a gap extending parallel to a plane of symmetry running through the longitudinal motor axis and the centre of the permanent magnet segments, in order to reduce the armature cross field. The aim of the invention is to reduce not only the armature cross field but also the weight of the electric motor. To this end, the single-piece magnetically conductive return path (3) is provided with a larger cross-section in a first area (13) near the end areas (14) of the permanent magnet segments (4) than in a second area (15) near the plane of symmetry (16) running through the centre of the permanent magnet segments (4). The inventive embodiment is especially suitable for small electric motors, particularly d.c. motors which are excited by permanent magnets. |
