The data streams are filtered for supply to respective terminals connected to the communication network. A network termination device (5) is provided between each terminal (2) and the bus or ring structure, for forwarding the data streams onto the bus or ring structure, and filtering out and supplying the required data. The termination devices are not in the accessible range of the operator of the terminal.
