Flying head slider for hard disc

The slider includes a head element which is supported on an end surface of a slider body (15) upstream of an air stream flowing along the slider body when a recording disc is rotated. A protection layer is formed on the end surface of the slider body to cover the head element. A recess (36) is formed on an air bearing surface of the protection layer, upstream of the boundary between the slider body and the protection layer. A recording disc apparatus is also claimed. An Independent claim is included for a flying head slider.
