The coupling device is releasably attached to the towbar (7) of the trailer (8) for the coupling process. Connecting devices are fitted to the trailer coupling and also to the towbar. The trailer coupling remains attached to the towbar after being released from it by a movable retracting and extending traction device in the form of a steel cable (9). The other end of the cable is connected to a drive device.
