The building wall (1) consists of uprights (4), outer (2) and inner (3) shells and interposed insulation (5,6,7), the shells composed of planks (2a to 2i, 3a to 3k) giving a double wall block whose uprights are made up of posts (4) set normal to the plank length and house floor. The posts are nailed (8,9) or screwed to the planks, using the statics of the erected building to decide the number and positions of the respective posts. Thus the planks to the sides stiffen the wall posts into a self-supporting element. The nails (8) joining the posts to the outer shell planks (2a to 2i) run horizontally and so normal to the outer planks at an acute angle from alternate sides right through to the outermost planks but without totally penetrating these. Nails (9) joining posts to inner planks (3a to 3k) at an angle to the posts run parallel to one another and at right angles to the plank length. The planks are joined on their narrow side by tongue (11) and groove (10) here in doubled form and the insulation consists of an openly diffusive wind break (5), mineral wool (6) and a special pulp board damp proof course.
