The unit includes at least a transformation unit (SOL) for utilising a first regenerative energy source. At least a second energy source is represented by a rechargeable energy storage unit (AKK). The energy generated in the transformation unit is stored in the energy storage unit. A further optional energy source is represented by an optional energy supply connection for connection to an energy supply network (DC,AC). A control unit (STE) selects at least one energy source dependent on predetermined conditions. At least an adaption unit (AP1,AP2) is provided to adapt the voltage (vs1..4) of the selected energy source to the necessary operation voltage (bs1..3) of the connectable communication unit (RBS,RNT,RNR).
