The amplifier amplifies strongly correlated signals (111R, 111L) for a left and a right channel, and includes a first (114R) and a second amplifier circuit (114L) integrated in a semiconductor substrate. A phase converter circuit (120) inverts the phase of one of the signals before its amplification, so that the respectively other signal is amplified with a small or without a signal phase reversal. This amplified sound signal is supplied either to the non-inverting or inverting connection of a corresponding loudspeaker. The other inverted and amplified sound signal is supplied subsequently at the opposite connection, i.e. the inverting and/or non-inverting connection, of the corresponding loudspeaker. Simultaneous power supply requirements of both channels are thereby reduced considerably, if strongly correlated signals are amplified for the left and/or the right channel.
