<p>A safety mechanism for an overhead aircraft luggage bin (1) for preventing baggage from falling from the bin (1) when the door (8) of the bin (1) is opened. The safety mechanism includes a roll-up screen (20) mounted on the door (8) which cooperates with a latch (36) mounted on the lower edge of the opening (7) to the bin (1). The latch (36) and roll-up screen mechanism (20) are operatively associated whereby when the door (8) is in covered or closed position, the screen (24) is rolled up and latched to the latch (36). When the door (8) is moved to the uncovered position, the screen (24) is unrolled and covers the opening to the bin (1).</p> |
