The invention relates to a switch point for a conveyor device in which carriers (17) for material to be conveyed which are fitted with rollers (31, 33) are movably guided on running rails. The switch point has a switch point blade (13) which can be switched between a first and a second position, in the first position joins a connecting end (45) of a first running rail section (7) with a connecting end of a second running rail section (9), and in the second position is separated from the first running rail section (7). A securing device (43) comprises a locking element (47) which is arranged on at least one supporting element (5) near the connecting end (45) of the first running rail section (7) and can be moved between a locked position and a release position. When the connecting end (45) of the first running rail section (7) is open the locking element is in the locked position to prevent carriers (17) for the material to be conveyed from moving towards the connecting end (45) of the first running rail section (7). When the first switch point blade (13) is moved into its first position the locking element engages with a part of the first switch point blade (13) and is forced into the release position by said first switch point blade (13), so that the locking element (47) moved into the release position allows the carriers (17) for the material to be conveyed to pass freely.
