New agglutinating formulation for canvases, processes for their preparation and applications. The formulation comprises: Rabbit glue 1,000 g Casein glue 1,000 g Cellulose 500 g Glucose 100 cm3 Ammonia 250 cm3 Water 22 l and these quantities may vary by +- 10%. The process comprises separately stirring the rabbit and casein glues and the cellulose for 24 hours, then dissolving the stirred rabbit glue in a water bath and the casein glue adding the ammonia, after which the cellulose solution is slowly incorporated with stirring with the rabbit glue and once the two are mixed the casein glue solution is incorporated, again gradually with stirring. The glucose can be incorporated at any time in the process and the mixing is completed at a temperature between 30 and 50 degree C. The formulation has application in the manufacture of canvases for painting.
