<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron emitting element to emit electrons by means of electric field emission, whereby a control electrode to control the track of emitted electron can be fabricated in a simple structure. SOLUTION: An electron drawout layer (gate electrode) 2 is laid on a base layer (base electrode) 4 formed on an insulated board 6 in such a way that an insulating layer 3 is interposed, and the electron drawout layer 2 and insulating layer 3 are furnished with a plurality of recesses leading to the base layer 4, and an emitter 1 is protrusively provided in each recess and is located on the electron drawout layer 2 with a micro-space interposed, and electrons are emitted from each emitter 1 by a ferro-electric field formed between the electron drawout layer 2 and the emitter 1 by applying a voltage between the base layer 4 and electron drawout layer 2. In this electron emitting element, a control electrode 9 for controlling the activation of electron to be emitted is furnished in the same layer as the base layer 4, and the surface of this control electrode 9 is left exposed to the space.</p> |
