PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable miniaturization by arranging, in multiple stages, plural photocatalytic filters each containing an adsorbent and a photocatalyst leaving spaces between them along the flow passage in a flow passage for an atmosphere to be purified and passing long, narrow slender light sources through the plural filters in the flow passage direction. SOLUTION: The inner wall of a flow passage 11 is made an reflecting plate for ultraviolet rays. The inner wall as the reflecting plate is a glossy surface by plating or polishing or the like or a irregularly reflecting surface by etching and other surface roughening treatment. Photocatalytic filters are provided with different adsorbents from each other and common titanium oxide as a photocatalyst. A filter 1 of a first stage adsorbs and decomposes acetic acid using titanium oxide as an adsorbent and a photocatalyst, a filter 2 of a second stage adsorbs and decomposes acetaldehyde using active carbon as an adsorbent, and a filter 3 of a third stage adsorbs and decomposes ammonia using zeolite as an adsorbent. Each filter is irradiated with ultraviolet ray from two ultraviolet lamps 4 to effectively decompose and remove each contaminant by each photocatalytic material. |
