PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink for image formation which uses a solvent mainly comprising water and can give a high-difinition image without exhibiting blur and without causing swelling after drying of an image part formed by the ink and to provide an image formation method using the same. SOLUTION: An ink for image formation which contains (A) a solvent mainly comprising water, (B) a colorant dispersible or soluble in the solvent, and (C) a thermal excitation-responsive polymer which is water-soluble at normal temp., becomes water-insoluble by heating, and is contained in the dissolved state is deposited in the form of an image on a recording medium and/or is given thermal energy with an external means, causing the thermal excitation- responsive polymer to enclose and fix the colorant. Thus, in image formation with the ink prepd. by using a solvent mainly comprising water, blur is prevented; a high-difinition image can be obtd.; swelling after drying of an image part formed by the ink is avoided; and a high-quality image is obtd. even on plain paper. |
