NOVEL REGULATOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polynucleotide capable of giving a regulator polypeptide and useful for, e.g. screening antimicrobial compounds by imparting identity of specific level or more to a polynucleotide coding for a specific polypeptide. SOLUTION: This polynucleotide contains (A) a polynucleotide having an identity of at least 70% with a polynucleotide coding for a polypeptide containing an amino acid sequence shown by the formula, (B) a polynucleotide having an identity of at least 70% with a polynucleotide coding for a matured polypeptide identical with that manifested by a regulator gene contained Staphylococcus aureus as a deposited stock, or (C) a polynucleotide sequence selected by, e.g. polynucleotide coding for a polypeptide containing an amino acid sequence having an identity of at least 70% with the amino acid sequence shown by the formula. It is preferable to produce the polypeptide by culturing a host cell genetically transformed by a vector containing the isolated polynucleotide.
