摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a composite material of Al and C with which efficient vapor deposition is enabled without leaving nonvapor-deposited residue in the case of being used as a vapor depositing source in vacuum deposition and to provide a method for producing it. SOLUTION: C powder in which the total of volatile matter contg. oxygen and an adsorbed water content on the surface is regulated to <=0.1 wt.% is mixed with gaseous nitrogen atomizing Al powder in which the content of oxygen is regulated to <=1000 ppm, and after that, sintering is executed. In the Al powder, the grain size is regulated to <=150μm, and the average grain size is regulated to 10 to 80μm, and in the C powder, the grain size is regulated to <=80μm, and the average grain size is regulated to 2 or 30μm. The mixing ratio is regulated to Al:C=(80 to 98):(20 to 2), by weight. Moreover, vacuum hot pressing is executed under the conditions of <=10-l Torr vacuum, 500 to 680 deg.C and 0.2 to 1.0 t/cm<2> pressure, and then, sintering is executed.
