摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical communications network node which can reduce the number of unnecessary cross points in an optical switching network. SOLUTION: The optical signals having different wavelengths of wavelength multiplexing input optical transmission lines 100-1 to 100-M are outputted to a wavelength multiplexing output optical transmission line 110-1 through wavelength multiplexing reception interfaces 120-1 to 120-M having buffers as they are after being subjected to line switching on an optical switching network 140 and also to wavelength conversion by means of optical wavelength multiplexing transmission interfaces 121-1 to 121-M or by multiplexing a plurality of optical signals through ATM exchange in the buffers of the interfaces 120-1 to 120-M and on the network 140. Optical signals from input transmission lines 160-1 to 160-L are outputted to output transmission lines 170-1 to 170-L after the signals are subjected to ATM exchange by means of the buffers of reception interfaces 122-1 to 122-L having buffers and an optical switching network 141.
