The purpose is to simplify the fixture of weatherproof wall claddings where hard plastic or light metal are used in building, esp. in conjunction with Eternit panels (R.T.M.) where an elaborate substructure of wood or metal would normally be involved, with skilled labour called on to fix the panels onto horizontally running edge beams. Here the panels are thrust into the insertion shaped-section battens, enabling the work to be carried out very rapidly. The normal horizontal fixtures are not required. This is applicable both to new buildings and to conversion work. The panels are aligned in an overlapping manner inclined at a slight angle from the vertical.
