PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic answering telephone set that records information relating to a 3rd party other than a caller even when an automatic answering recording function is in operation. SOLUTION: In the automatic answering telephone set 10 operates in an automatic answering mode where the telephone set 10 replies a call from a caller and records a message from the caller. When a telephone line I/F circuit 12 detects a call from a 2nd caller while a telephone line is busy between the telephone set 10 and a 1st caller in the automatic answering mode, i.e., in the operating state of a TAD circuit 24, a CPU 16 replies the call and holds temporarily the telephone line with the 1st caller. A caller information reception circuit 14 acquires prescribed information from the 2nd caller and a memory 18 stores the information. Then the telephone line with the 1st caller is again connected.
