PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the diester of a dicarboxylic acid having 2 more carbons than those of an unsaturated hydrocarbon in high yield with solving the problem of corrosion of a reaction device by reacting the unsaturated hydrocarbon with carbon monoxide and an alcohol source. SOLUTION: This production of the diester of a dicarboxylic acid is to react an unsaturated hydrocarbon with carbon monoxide by adding an acid (except hydrohalogenic acids) having <=2 pKa value or a compound of the acid in the presence of a palladium catalyst and a nitrous acid ester in an aqueous solution at 18 deg.C and obtain the diester of the dicarboxylic acid having 2 than more carbons than those in the unsaturated hydrocarbon used. As the acid having <=2 pKa value, a sulfuric acid, hexafluorophosphoric acid, etc., are preferable. |
