PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow the projecting parts of a mattress which project from right and left ends on a bed to quickly drop and be easily trapped below the bed, the mattress being used in a bed so formed that the mattress and a human body together move horizontally. SOLUTION: A plurality of longitudinally elongated mat members are freely bendably connected together along the horizontal direction. Alternatively, a plurality of mat members are provided horizontally, with cuts made longitudinally at appropriate intervals so that the mat members are freely bent in the horizontal direction. The lower surface of a mattress 3 consists of one plane and has a separated upper part. Alternatively, the lower surface of the mattress is worked in advance so that it takes a curved shape, or the cross-sectional shape of each of the split mat members is given an upper surface with a greater width than the width of the lower surface of the mattress, to form a structure providing a curved shape, with the lower surface of the mattreess inside. In order to surely and smoothly effect this action, hook-and-loop fasteners are attached to the upper surface of a bed main body and the lower surface of the mat mounted thereon, so that they are freely attached to and removed from each other. |
