摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform excellent drive control of a variable valve device following a change in viscosity of working oil due to deterioration with the lapse of time of the working oil. SOLUTION: It is detected whether variation occurs to target opening characteristics (S1) and an actual response time A is measured (S2). Thereafter, by referring to a map, a set response time B is determined (S3). C [=A (an actual response time) - B (a set response time)] is determined, correction computation (B←B+C) is carried out (S5), and by using the result, correction computation is effected on PIDDTY (%) (a control gain), and by effecting a final duty ratio (VICDTY) based on the result to execute PID control. B obtained at S5 is stored and updated as a novel map value explained at S3, a main flow is completed at S6. Since, in this way, actual response characteristics are grasped, the drive control characteristics of a variable valve device are corrected to an excellent value according to a change of viscosity of working oil due to deterioration with the lapse of time of the working oil and in turn, operability and exhaust performance of an engine are improved.
