PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture interpolation method and a picture interpolation device capable of obtaining the picture element values of respective output picture elements in output pictures by interpolation while securing the continuity of the picture element values between the adjacent output picture elements at the time of obtaining all or a part of virtual pictures for which source pictures are coordinate transformed as the output pictures. SOLUTION: For the respective output picture element values 201a, 201b and 201c, picture elements inside corresponding blocks 203a, 203b and 203c are extracted from the source pictures. In respective extraction blocks, the respective output picture elements are positioned at the almost center. For such block picture elements, the picture element values of the respective output picture elements are obtained by orthogonal transformation and inverse orthogonal transformation. Thus, the continuity of the picture element values between the adjacent output picture elements is secured and the generation of block distortion is prevented. |
