<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an additional function such as an information input function in addition to a display function and to miniaturize a display. SOLUTION: A liquid crystal has a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between an active matrix substrate where pixel electrodes, switching elements 3 connected to the pixel electrodes, scanning lines 4 for driving the switching elements 3, and signal lines 5 for inputting signals to the pixel electrodes are arrayed in a matrix, and an opposite substrate provided with an opposite electrode. Further, the device has a read means 12 which reads information written on the pixel electrodes as a pixel signal through signal lines 5 and pixel signal storage means 14 and 15 which store the pixel signal read out by the read means 12.</p> |
