PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide sandwich glass which prevents the disadvantage of the prior art, has high sound shielding properties and physical strength over the entire part of its surface, is capable of withstanding the local compressive stress leading to the failure caused by, for example, tightening, in its peripheral part, glides within the body of an automobile and is particularly usable as side glass assembled to a lifting mechanism by tightening. SOLUTION: This sandwich glass 1 include at least two hard transparent substrates 2, 3 assembled by an intermediate layer having at least one sheet 4 consisting essentially of a thermoplastic material, more particularly polyvinyl butyral(PVB) resin. This intermediate layer has at least one notches on at least portions of the thickness within the peripheral part of the intermediate layer. The glass includes hard inserts 5, 5' housed in these notches. This invention also relates to the process for producing such glass. The process is applied to the production of the side glass for automobiles. |
