PRODUCTION OF P205-BASED VITREOUS ENAMEL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently disperse a vitreous enamel frit in a slip and to maintain fluidity of the slip necessary for homogeneous glazing in the production of a P2 O5 -based vitreous enamel which can be calcined at a low temp. SOLUTION: Sodium phosphate as a dispersant by 0.1 to 5 pts.wt. and 35 to 60 pts.wt. of water are added to 100 pts.wt. of a P2 O5 -based frit containing 45 to 65 wt.% P2 O5 to prepare a slip 5 having <0.5 Pa shear stress of the slip at 120 rpm rotation. The slip is applied (process 8) on the surface of a galvanealed steel sheet and then calcined at 530 deg.C to form an vitreous enamel layer of 30μm thickness.
