PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base disc type wheel for rotary grinding which is capable of performing grinding working with high accuracy because elongation of a base disc is small also at high circumferential speed and is high in safety. SOLUTION: In a base disc type grinding wheel for rotary grinding which is constituted by sticking an abrasive grain layer to a base disc 2, a composite material in which fibers are dispersed in ceramic matrix is used as the base disc 2, the coefficient of thermal expansion takes 5×10<-6> / deg.C or below, the density is defined as 3.5(×10<-3> kg/cm<3> ) or below and a ratio (N) of the density (kg/ cm<3> )/modulus of longitudinal elasticity (kgf/cm<2> ) takes 2×10<-9> /cm or below.
