PURPOSE:To convert the face of an inputted character into a proper output character code and an output face code which can be outputted by a character output device even if the character output device does not have the face of the inputted character. CONSTITUTION:When an inputted face code FC is not registered in a registered face table 54, a common code converting part 56 converts a character code CC into a common code ZC by means of a common code conversion table 57. An output code conversion part 60 selects a registered face code of the face having the highest priority of the input face code FC out of registered face codes including characters of the face indicated by the common code ZC from a face substitution priority order table 62 to find out an output face code UF and converts the common code ZC into an output character code UC by means of an output character code conversion table 61. |
