PURPOSE:To achieve the same timing of the operation of each developing unit in a multicolor recorder which switches the plural developing units and drives them by the use of a single driving means. CONSTITUTION:The four developing units 3-6, first-fourth respectively, are provided with one common drive control circuit 50. One driving source is driven in response to a control signal from the drive control circuit 50 and the driving force is switched to the developing units 3-6 in order through a developing unit drive mechanism and transmitted thereto. Also, five position detecting sensors, first-fifth, are disposed. The notch part of the cam of the developing unit drive mechanism is detected by the sensors. The drive control circuit 50 is instructed to stop the notch part of the cam at the positions of the sensors. The fifth sensor is arranged in such a position that the length of time that images are written out of the front end of a recording material is longer than the length of time that the notch part of the cam moves counterclockwise from the position of the fifth sensor to the position of the first developing unit 3. |
