A first read only recording medium for recording a computer software, and a second writable recording medium are used, and the inherent volume serial numbers previously affixed to the first and second recording media are recorded as readable install information numbers on the second recording medium. These volume serial numbers and install information numbers are compared with each other. If they do not match with each other, it is judged that the first or second recording medium is duplicated and illegal installation is prevented or a computer software recorded on the duplicated recording medium is prevented from being started thus preventing illegal use. |
