The invention relates to a seamless, tubular food casing. Said casing is shaped by blowing with a surface area ratio of 1 : 2 to 1 : 10 and is produced from a thermoplastic mixture comprising a) thermoplastic starch and/or a thermoplastic starch derivative and b) at least one other polymer obtained by polycondensation or polyaddition, the weight ratio a) : b) being 90 : 10 to 10 : 90. The thermoplastic mixture may also contain plasticisers, lubricants, fibres, fillers and/or cross-linking agents. The inventive casing is especially suitable for use as a plastic sausage casing. |
