The system comprises a tube 16 of thermoplastic material containing a pressurised non-combustion-sustaining gas e.g., nitrogen, connected to and normally maintaining closed a servo-valve (17). A pressurized water reservoir 18 is connected through the servo-valve which is actuated upon rupture of the tube 16 and supplies water to at least one nozzle 19 capable of projecting a water fog with a droplet size of the order of 10 microns diameter. Typically the system is used with a deep fat fryer 10, where the nozzle 19 is disposed in an extractor hood 11 above the fryer along with a portion of the tube 16 which extends into a plenum 13 and ducting 14, in which are disposed further nozzles 20, 21. |
