An apparatus for the needling of a pre-consolidated nonwoven 1 is described, with at least one needle board 3 capable of being driven back and forth in the pricking direction and with a stitch base 2 which is arranged between a roller inlet and a roller take-up and is located directly opposite the needle board 3 and which consists of lamellae 7 which run transversely to the web run-through direction and of which end faces 8 forming a nonwoven support define an enveloping surface convexly curved in the nonwoven run-through direction, in each case at least two rows, running transversely to the nonwoven run-through direction, of needles 5 provided with barbs 9 for driving the fibres, engaging between adjacent lamellae 7. In order to ensure advantageous needling conditions, it is proposed that needles 5 with barbs 9 effective in the pricking direction and needles 5 with barbs 9 effective in the pull-out direction of the needles 5 be distributed essentially uniformly over the needle rows. <IMAGE> |
