<p>The meter comprises two counters (5,6) with opposite counting directions, whose counter status is separately read and processed. A correction circuit (15) determines the amplitude of the received light pulse continuously, and corrects corresponding measuring errors. The meter is started at reception of a light pulse at a ''start'' input (2), and is stopped at reception of a light pulse at a ''stop'' input (3), whereby a measuring error depending on the amplitude of a received light pulse is corrected by a correction circuit (15). The correction circuit determines the amplitude of the received light pulse continuously. A shift register (14) is preferably provided for determining static errors of both asynchronous counters, and a test logic (11) is provided for determining dynamic errors.</p> |
