PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the width dimension of a sheet with a least possible number of detection means when the various kinds in size of the sheets are carried. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a sheet carrying means 11 carrying sheets, a flag 15-E which is parallel with the carrying surface of the shaft, is inclined with respect to the carrying direction of the sheet so as to be disposed, and is operated by each tip end angle part of the various kinds in size of the sheets, and with a first sheet detection means provided with a sensor 16-E detecting the action of the aforesaid flag, second sheet detection means 13 and 14 which are located on the upstream side in the sheet carrying direction of the first sheet detection means, and detect sheets, and with an operating means 20. The width of the sheet can be operated based on the difference in detection time between the first sheet detection means and the second sheet detection means. Therefore, only sole the second sheet detection means can deal with the various kinds in size of the sheets to be detected. |
