PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the power of a battery from being wastefully consumed by operating a motor with approx. the maximum efficiency always during the run. SOLUTION: A bicycle with an electrically assisting power device is composed of a body on which a front wheel and a rear wheel are mounted and a reduction gear device 300 having a motor 40 and a gear ratio adjusting mechanism 350, and is equipped with an electric assisting power device attached to th body, a motor drive circuit to adjust the input to the motor 40, an adjusting mechanism driving means (stepping motor 330 etc.), to adjust the gear ratio, a bicycle speed sensing means to sense the speed of bicycle, and a stamping force sensing means (torque sensor 100) to sense the stamping force of the pedal. Using the motor drive circuit and adjusting mechanism driving means, the input to the motor 40 and the gear ratio of the reduction gear device 300 are regulated in accordance with the bicycle speed and stamping force varying during the run so that the efficiency of the motor 40 maximizes substantially, and the motor 40 is operated always with the max. efficiency so as to prevent the battery power from being wastefully consumed. |
