<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject inhibitor capable of controlling abnormal production of IL-1 as, a type of cytokine and useful for prevention and treatment of diseases caused by abnormal production of IL-1, in particular chronic arthritis rheumatism, by including a carbostyryl derivative of specific structure and/or its salt as the effective ingredient. SOLUTION: This inhibitor contains, as the effective ingredient, a carbostyryl derivative shown by the formula (R is benzoyl which may have a lower alkoxy on the phenyl ring; and the C-C bond between the 3- and 4-sites in the carbostyryl skeleton is single or double) and/or its salt, preferably 6-[4-(3,4- dimethoxybenzoyl)-1-piperazinyl]-3,4-dihydrocarbostyryl and/or its salt. The compound shown by the formula as the effective ingredient is preferably contained at 1 to 30 wt.%, based on the whole composition. It is recommended that the inhibitor is administered normally at 0.5 to 30 mg as the effective ingredient a day per kg of the body weight.</p> |
