PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mesh type catalyst body to be placed in an incineration furnace which combusts at a rather low temp. so that halogenated hydrocarbons such as dioxin produced by incineration can be efficiently decomposed and that the deteriorated catalytic activity can be easily recovered. SOLUTION: This mesh type catalyst body consists of a frame body and an electrically conductive wire catalyst body stretched over the frame body. The catalyst body is produced in the following processes. A wire carrier prepared by melting and depositing aluminum on stainless wires is stretched at 2 mm interval over the frame body. The wire carrier is dipped in a sodium hydroide aq. soln. and then in a nitric acid aq. soln. for surface treatment, and then subjected to anodic oxidation in a chromate aq. soln. Platonic chloride is dissolved in water, and the pH of the obtd. soln. is controlled with ammonia. The wire carrier is dipped in this soln. for hydration treatment, while the carrier is impregnated with a platinum catalyst. After impregnation, the catalyst body is dried and fired. |
