PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a useful substance capable of continuously producing bisphenol A from acetone and phenol. SOLUTION: Bisphenol A is produced by a pseudo-moving layer type chromatographic separation method. The pseudo-moving layer type chromatographic separation method comprises carrying out an operation for feeding phenol into a system comprising plural filler-packed columns endlessly bound to each other to flow the phenol in one direction, an operation for feeding acetone into the system, an operation for extracting a liquid mush containing the produced bisphenol A produced by a catalytic reaction, an operation for extracting a liquid much containing water outside the system, and a pseudo- moving layer operation for intermittently moving a position for feeding and extracting the liquids for each column along the directions of the liquid flows in the system to apparently move the filler in each column in a direction opposite to the direction of the liquid flow, thus moving the bisphenol A in the direction of the liquid flow and apparently moving the water in the direction opposite to the direction of the liquid flow to continuously separating the water and the bisphenol A. |
