PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject dye giving bright, strongly greenish blue color in an inkjet ink and easily soluble in a solvent to be used for an ink. SOLUTION: This dye is a cationic thiadiazole diphenylamine dye of formula I (R<1> and R<2> are independently H, an alkyl, an alkenyl or the like; R<3> is an alkyl, an alkenyl, a cycloalkyl or the like; R<4> and R<9> are independently H, an alkyl, an alkoxy or the like; R<4a> is H or the like; R<5> is H, an alkyl, an alkoxy or the like; R<6> and R<8> are independently an alkyl, an alkoxy or the like; R<7> is an alkoxy, an aryloxy or the like; X<-> is an anion). The dye of formula I is obtained by a known process, for example, by diazotizing a 2-amino-1,3,4- thiadiazole of formula II, coupling the product with a diphenylamine derivative of formula III and converting the product into a quaternary compound by using a compound of the formula: R<3> X. Further, an anhydro base of formula IV is obtained by reacting a dye of formula I with a base in the presence of a solvent. |
